Growth is Good! And we’re HIRING!!

ICE is experiencing good solid growth for 2012.  We are growing with some of our existing customers across different markets who are all experiencing growth.  Our Aerospace, Industrial and Recreation customers are all increasing.  We are also working on new customers across these industries.

As mentioned in a previous post we are moving along really well with Argonaut Cycles.  We are working with a new aerospace customer and a new industrial customer who’s names we will discuss later as more evolves there!

Mostly what this means is we are hiring!!  We are in need of a machinist to support new tooling programs and many more composite techs to keep up with our expansions!

Check out our careers page here for more info!

Here is our current Craigslist.com ad as well

Bigger Winner 2012

ICE is excited to be sponsoring and competing in the BIGGER WINNER 2012!

This is the second year ICE will be involved with the Bigger Winner.  Last year ICE employee Philip Wilson took 2nd place overall:

Second Place Individual $350

Philip Wilson 20.3%

Overall Philip Wilson of Underwood,  says he learned a lot about eating healthier during these past three months, thanks to the efforts at his workplace, Innovative Composite Engineering which invited health and medical specialists to come talk to their employees on a weekly basis on weight-related issues. “I feel so much better now, I eat healthier, and I exercise a lot. I feel good.”

GM shifting toward more Carbon Fiber

News came out this week about GM partnering with Teijin to bring carbon fiber mainstream in the auto industry.  They also point to the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento as a “showcase for the performance potential of carbon fiber”

Sesto Elemento

ICE worked with Lamborghini on production of the control arms for the Sesto Elemento and the process that Lamborghini (In conjunction with Calloway Golf) has coined “Forged Composite”

This is one of many cutting edge types of projects ICE is fortunate enough to be involved in!

Video: Autometrix test Carbon Fiber Gantry Beam made by Innovative Composite Engineering

Autometrix Precision Cutting Systems sold their original (and still in operation) cutting system in 1992.  Since then they have lead the industry with fast, reliable cutters and pattern creating software.  In 2003 Autometrix teamed with Innovative Composite Engineering to develop the industry’s first ultra-strong, lightweight Carbon Fiber Gantry.

This Carbon Fiber Gantry is designed to be extra stiff, fast, yet smooth moving and very light.  With these goals Autometrix also wanted to ensure they did not sacrifice any quality and demanded a strong, hard-working beam.  ICE delivered and the original beams from 2003 are still in service today.

Recently Autometrix put the strength of the beams to the test and highlighted it’s strength in this video.  Watch as they eventually drive the front wheel of a hummer onto the beam to measure it’s deflection.  Autometrix systems are proudly made in the USA and distributed around the globe.  For more information about Autometrix visit: www.autometrix.com

Innovative Composite Engineering manufactures a wide variety of structural composite tubes and shapes for the automotive, aerospace, industrial, recreational, defense and oil & gas industries.  ICE specializes in taking complex engineering problems and turning them into manufacturing realities with winning results.

NOLIMITZ in the American Windsurfing Tour!

This weekend at the world famous Ho’okipa Beach Park in Maui, Hawaii four NOLIMITZ riders will be competing in the final stop of the American Windsurfing Tour,  The event takes place from Oct 27th - Nov 1st as part of the Maui Makani Classic.

The four NOLIMITZ riders are:

Patrick Bergeron (In the pictures above and below)
Royn Bartholdi
Kevin McGillivray
Nick Dudet

There will be over 95 competitors in whole for the event and NOLIMITZ estimates that almost 50% will be competing with a mast manufactured by NOLIMITZ in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge in White Salmon, WA.

In 1989 the first Nolimitz carbon fiber mast was built. Since then tens of thousands of masts have followed and have found their way into hands of sailors around the world in search of the most durable mast that money can buy. In 1992 Nolimitz engineers looked at the design of their masts and decided to step outside of the “aluminum” box by creating the Skinny genre of windsurfing masts.  This is the mast that single handily changed the industry.

The Skinny design was the result of pure engineering data that corresponds to composite materials being used in the construction of carbon fiber masts. The thicker wall thickness and smaller diameter proved to be much more durable than the regular diameter counterparts and the Skinny revolution began. Since then the Skinny design has been copied and tweaked by dozens of mast companies bringing the windsurfing industry to where it is today with a variety of Skinny (often referred to as “RDM”) options. Nolimitz, the company that started it all is now the only manufacturer producing windsurfing masts in the United States and currently offers three Skinny mast models to meet a wide variety of sailing conditions and equipment.

THAAD Missile Defense Success!!

The US Missile Defense Agency said Wednesday that a test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System was a success.  The test was performed in a simulated combat condition and the THAAD Missile system successfully shot down two ballistic missiles in their last stage of flight.

This test is a huge success for the program as it will help move it to actual deployment.  ICE has been a long time supporter of the THAAD program and is currently producing Kevlar sleeves as well as various carbon fiber tubes and rails for Lockheed Martin.

THAAD

The THAAD Missile System for Lockheed Martin is just one of many defense programs that ICE supports.  The THAAD missile is only used in a defense scenario to shoot down an incoming missile attack.  ICE does only defense type military programs.  Missiles would be an easy market for ICE to be a bigger part in but it is in our company policy to not support any systems that deliver or could cause harm in an offensive strike.

ICE is also known for our work with the rapidly growing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle market but even here ICE will only partner with companies in the surveillance arena.
