Innovative Composite Engineering (ICE) has teamed up and been supplying Natel Energy with carbon fiber “blades” for their new hydropower turbine! Both ICE & Natel are advocates for cleaner, more sustainable energy for the future.

Natel’s hydroEngine™ is a fully flooded, two-stage impulse hydropower turbine. Water, conveyed in a pipe or penstock, enters the hydroEngine™ and first encounters a cascade of fixed foils, called guidevanes, which direct flow into the first cascade of moving blades. After passing over the moving blades, the water flows through a second cascade of guidevanes, and finally, passes through a second cascade of moving blades. The guidevanes inside the hydroEngine™ are adjustable in pitch, allowing for direct control of flowrate, while keeping the machine’s efficiency high across a wide range of flows.

Innovative Composite Engineering announced this November 2012 that their White Salmon, WA facility has been certified to the AS9100:2009 Rev C Quality Management System standard after successfully passing a certification audit by Orion Registrar, Incorporated.
 
The AS9100 quality standard is recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration as being the quality standard for the Aviation, Space, and Defense industry.  The standard includes all the requirements of ISO9001 along with additional aerospace requirements specific to the industry, therefore certification to the ISO9001:2008 standard is also included.
 
ICE is a recognized leader in the composites industry and is known for their expertise in the areas of design, engineering, and manufacturing of carbon fiber composite components, structures, and assemblies.  ICE employs approximately 65 people at its new 64,000 square foot facility in White Salmon, WA and supplies product to the Aviation, Space, and Defense industry as well as the automotive and recreational industries.
 
Certification to the AS9100C standard supports ICE’s continued commitment to produce dependable products and services, and goal of continually improve their quality management system.

Custom Carbon Fiber Tubing Make Boats GO FAST!

Yesterday, Aug 29th  Oracle Racing let the public eye see their AC72 for the first time, with plans to launch the wing sailed catamaran later this week. Oracle Racing erected the 12 story high wing sail at Pier 80 in San Francisco, CA in preparation and testing for The 34th America’s Cup, held September 7-22nd 2013. Innovative Composite Engineering has been supplying Oracle with custom carbon fiber tubing for nearly a decade.
